BIOGRAPHIES
JASMINE MAHMOUD, Editor, The Arts Politic.
Jasmine Mahmoud is the Editor of The Arts Politic. In that role, she cultivates each issue’s editorial focus, and directs editorial and art design for theartspolitic.com. She also shares responsibility with Danielle Kline for editing, design, operations and planning. Before founding The Arts Politic, Jasmine worked for the Brennan Center for Justice (public policy) and The Karpel Group (entertainment marketing), wrote for the Williamsburg Greenpoint News + Arts, and founded the for-profit arts startup, Homemade. She also lived out her rock star dreams: leading funk/soul/blues band “Jasmine Jamillah,” performing at Carnegie Hall and the Knitting Factory, teaching violin to urban youth, and music directing the original punk rock music play, “Hot Grits.” She is a graduate of the Arts Politics program at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, and of Harvard College, where she concentrated in Government and served as the Associate Editorial Chair of The Harvard Crimson. Jasmine currently works for Arts Corps, the largest arts education organization in the Seattle area, and coordinates the MusicianCorps program in Seattle, WA–a pilot year partnership of Music National Service and Arts Corps that employs full-time teaching musicians in direct music service work.
KEMEYA HARPER, Creative Director, The Arts Politic.
As Creative Director, Kemeya Harper directs the design and layout of The Arts Politic. Kemeya has worked as a freelance graphic, web and motion designer in her hometown of Seattle, WA. She loves design and is always interested in finding new ways to communicate, express, and be creative in a visual capacity. She received a B.F.A. degree in Motion Design from Cornish College of the Arts and an A.A. degree in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Seattle. In her spare time, Kemeya is a do-it-yourself crafter, amateur photographer, and general design nerd. Samples of Kemeya’s work can be viewed at: kemeya.com.
DANIELLE KLINE, Executive Editor, The Arts Politic.
Danielle Kline is the Executive Editor of The Arts Politic. In that role, she shares responsibility with Jasmine Mahmoud for the content, print & web design, operations and planning of The Arts Politic. Danielle’s experience includes more than three years working for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton on arts and economic development issues. She has worked at the American Repertory Theater (Cambridge), at the Long Wharf Theatre (New Haven), at the Institute of Contemporary Art Theater (Boston), and has studied at Circle in the Square Theatre School (NYC). She is a member of the American Democracy Institute and formerly a member of the Arts Industries Policy Forum, developed by the Curb Center for Art, Enterprise, and Public Policy at Vanderbilt University. Danielle graduated with a B.A. in Theatre Performance from Northeastern University, where she was a Matthews Distinguished Honors Scholar for critical undergraduate research and a recipient of the President’s Award for Diversity. Danielle received her M.A. degree in Arts Politics from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
RONAMBER DELONEY, Culture Editor, The Arts Politic.
RonAmber Deloney is The Arts Politic’s Culture Editor. She is responsible for contributing global culture news and perspectives to The Arts Politic, and writes the column, “Pop Politik.” Before joining The Arts Politic, RonAmber taught arts activism and social justice courses to NYC high school students. She is a Fulbright Scholar and spent three-and-one-half years in Berlin researching slam poetry in Germany, working with the Berlin poetry festival and organizing open mics. As a spoken word artist, she has performed at Jazz Cafe London (opening for The Last Poets), Atomic Cafe Munich, Cafe Paris Paris, Paradiso Amsterdam, and Joe’s Pub at The Public. She is a graduate of the Arts Politics M.A. degree program at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, and she received her B.A. degree in English and German from Austin College. Her current projects include blogging, a poetry chapbook, and poetic responses to mainstream hip-hop as part of New Night Babies.
