On Friday, June 12, 2009, Danielle and I hosted a “Preview Party” for The Arts Politic at Boucarou Lounge in New York City. After nearly two years of strategy sessions to plan our content and operational structure, after countless discussions over lots of coffee, after months of reading submissions, after weeks of editing, and after many, many moments of inspiration, we are thrilled to announce that our inaugural issue is nearly complete!

To celebrate the launch of our magazine, we invited our friends, supporters, and readers to an evening of conversation and revelry. The party featured “Preview Edition” copies of the first edition with select content from our “Opening Acts,” “Special Report,” “Poetry,” and “Remembering” sections.
Danielle and I spoke briefly about the roots and mission of The Arts Politic; yet it was those attending the celebration who reaffirmed our goals for this magazine: to bring everyone to the table as a means for solving problems at the intersection of arts and politics.

We invite you to take a look at photographs from the evening’s festivities. We are deeply grateful to those who attended and we invite you to look forward to our issue which will be available this month!
